Research Interests:

My research interests are broad and include topics in ecology and animal behavior. Some of my current research includes:

Mammals in Urban Greenways:

Urban greenways may create habitat islands within urban areas for the conservation of native wildlife. However, despite the large number of urban greenways, very little is known about the conservation value of these habitats. I am currently working with an undergraduate student, Nada Hyatt, to determine whether greenways within Spartanburg provide suitable habitat for small mammals. Using mark-recapture techniques, we are calculating population parameters and assessing the diversity of small mammals with greenways.

Predator-Prey Interactions:

Organisms face a trade-off between feeding/mating and avoiding predation. I am studying how the chemical cues of wolf spiders such as Rabidosa rabida influence the anti-predator behavior of field crickets.

Interested in Research?

I am willing to work with self-motivated undergraduates interested in scientific research. You can either assist with a current project or conduct your own individual research. Your research may serve as your senior seminar project.
