* This is a tentative outline and the
instructor reserves the right to change the content, order, or dates of the
Schedule of Topics in order to fulfill the goals of the course.
Course Policies:
1) Students are
expected to attend class and arrive for class on time.
2) Students are
expected to take exams and complete all labs. There are no makeup labs during
the session.
3) Makeup tests are
not automatically given in this class. In order to qualify for a makeup test,
you must notify the
instructor before a scheduled
exam that you will be absent. If your excuse is acceptable, a makeup of the
test will be
scheduled at the
instructor’s convenience.
4) No cell phones or
electronic devices are allowed in the classroom or can be used in the
classroom.
Cheating and Plagiarism:
·
Your grade on everything in the course is to be
based on your own work. Cheating in any form is a violation of the honor code
(available in the student handbook), and will be reported to the Dean of
Students. A first offense will result in a zero for the assignment / test. If
the offense is not the first, the consequence will likely be the failure for
the course.
·
For the term project, do not copy and paste from
literature or the Web. The term project should be based on your analysis. If
you do use words from the literature or the Web, be appropriately cited.
Plagiarism (using others’ work, including paraphrasing—from the web
or anyplace else—without proper attribution) will result in a zero.
Plagiarism is a violation of the student honor code and will be reported to the
Dean of Students.
Disability Accommodations:
“In keeping with University
policy, any student with a disability who requests academic accommodations
should contact Disability Services at 503-5195 to arrange a confidential
appointment with the Disability Services Coordinator. Students are encouraged to seek an
appointment as early in the semester as possible, as accommodations are not
provided retroactively. Letters of
accommodation must be signed and printed on letterhead from the Disability
Services office. It is the student’s
responsibility to provide these letters to professors in a timely manner so
that accommodations may be put in place.”
