Philosophy of Teaching

My philosophy is that people learn best when:

  • they are involved
  • they are having fun
  • they are challenged
  • they are able to teach others
  • they are responsible to their peers
  • they are faced with an authentic need
  • they focus on a task or discussion rather than on a targeted skill or vocabulary item
  • they acquire knowledge together with strategies for real-life implementation

No one can never teach you everything you need to know about any subject. I won't even try. Instead, I'll strive to equip you with some foundational skills and then overtly and inductively train you in the development and use of strategies for using those skills to address novel situations as they arise.
